Minister Sushanta Chowdhury emphasis on strengthening transport network
Jun 20, 2025Transport minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday chaired a meeting with the officials of his department to review the ongoing infrastructural work of the department across the state.
“To transform the state’s transportation system, several development-oriented infrastructure projects are currently progressing rapidly across various regions of Tripura. As part of this transformation, multiple initiatives have been launched to strengthen the state’s transport network,” Chowdhury said.
He said that under the “Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2024-25” scheme by the Central Government, the construction of modern motor stands is underway in multiple locations including Melaghar, Jirania, Santirbazar, Julaibari, Manu Ghat Motor Stand, Rajarbagh Bus Port, Sabroom Interstate Bus Terminus, Transport Commissioner’s Office in Agartala, West District Transport Office, District Transport Offices in Kailashahar, Bishramganj, Teliamura, and Santirbazar.
Senior officials from the state’s Transport Department, along with representatives from key construction agencies such as the Public Works Department (PWD), Rural Development Department, and CPWD, were present in the meeting.
During the meeting, the minister instructed concerned agencies to expedite construction and ensure timely submission of Utilization Certificates (UCs) upon completion.
