Akasa Air launches flight service from Agartala MBB airport

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha Friday launched the Akasa Air private flight services from the Agartala MBB airport and hoped that the people of this state, especially the students would be highly benefited from the flight service. The 189-seater aircraft will depart daily from Bangalore to Agartala via Guwahati and will fly directly to Bangalore from Agartala.

Addressing the launching programme, the Chief Minister said, “It is under the able leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, that the communication system of the North-East region of the country including the state of Tripura is improved and upgraded. This region was once neglected and people were deprived of a better communication system, be it airways, railways or roadways.”

The Chief Minister however requested the authorities of Akasa Air to fix the air fare within the reach of the people of this state. Meanwhile, the state transport and tourism minister Pranajit Singha Roy said that there has been a lot of improvement in the air communication system in the state.

“Presently 20 aircrafts are operating their service from the Agartala MBB airport and the inclusion of another aircraft like Akasa Air, would definitely ease the people at large,” the minister said. In view of the rising demand of passengers along the Agartala-Delhi route, the minister urged upon the authority of Akasa Air to fly another aircraft on the route.
