Home Minister Amit Shah to chair all party meeting in Imphal today to review prevailing situation in Manipur


Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been conducting a series of meetings with all the stakeholders in Imphal to resolve the present communal violence in the State. Mr Shah arrived in Imphal last night with the officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs, including the Secretary (Home) and Director of the IB.

The Union Home minister interacted with the leaders of seven women's organisations, including vendors at Rajbhawan in Imphal early this morning.

Afterward, Mr Shah interacted with the leaders of civil society organisations, conglomeration- COCOMI and others at the CM Secretariat.

The Union Home Minister has left Imphal now for Churachandpur district where he is going to interact with tribal leaders. It may be mentioned that the violence in Manipur has erupted from this district and Amit Shah is expected to pacify the leaders and appeal to them for the restoration of peace in the State.

In the evening, Amit  Shah will chair a meeting of the ruling party in which BJP MLAs will be attended. Afterward, all political party meetings will be held in Imphal in which discussion will be held to bring normalcy and communal harmony in the State. 

It is said that the Union minister has assured the women organisation of Imphal that the territorial integrity of Manipur will not be affected by the present crisis.

The minister has informed the women leaders that he will be coming again to Imphal after ten days to review the peace process undertaken by the government.

The Union Home minister attended a cabinet meeting last night in Imphal. The meeting decided to give an ex-gratia of ten lakh rupees each to the families who lost lives due to the communal violence.

The meeting also decided other four points,  including improvement of law and order situation in Manipur and giving government jobs to the next of kin of the deceased civilians.
