CM, cabinet colleagues, MLAs and party leaders watch ‘The Kerala Story’
May 13, 2023Chief Minister of Tripura Dr. Manik Saha accompanied by minister for power Ratan Lal Nath, minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury, minister for Animal Resource Development Sudhangshu Das, minister for Finance Pranajit Singha Roy, minister for Youth Affairs & Sports Tinku Roy, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, all other BJP MLAs and Party leaders watched the ‘The Kerala Story’ at Rupasi Cinema Hall on Saturday.
Interacting with the media persons Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that this movie has exposed the brutal design of terrorism. Everyone must watch it. He also congratulated the Director & full team of 'The Kerala Story' for revealing the conspiracies.
He said banning the film will not serve any purpose as it is not against any community but against terrorism. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha made the remark in reference to the West Bengal government banning the Sudipto Sen-directorial citing law and order problems. Dr. Manik Saha said ‘The Kerala Story’ shows the conspiracy hatched against innocent girls including those from the Muslim community.
The film has sparked a major controversy upon its release. The Adah Sharma-starrer has been accused of spreading hatred and violence against a particular community.
However, the film has been praised by the Bharatiya Janata Party and other right wing outfits. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also mentioned ‘The Kerala Story’ at a rally in Karnataka, saying the film exposed the consequences of terrorism in the society.
The film is directed by Sudipto Sen and features a screenplay written by Suryapal Singh, Sudipto Sen, and Vipul Amrutlal Shah. Vipul Amrutlal Shah produced the film, which stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani. Prasantanu Mohapatra was the cinematographer, while Sanjay Sharma was in charge of the editing. Viresh Sreevalsa and Bishakh Jyoti composed the music for the film, which was produced by Sunshine Pictures. The plot follows the story of a group of women from Kerala who are converted to Islam and join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
