Huge cache of drugs worth over Rs. 2 Crores seized: BSF


The BSF Tripura frontier in its persistent efforts in curbing the menace of trans-border smuggling along Indo-Bangladesh international border seized a huge cache of drug items worth over Rs. 2 crores.

The BSF in its press communique stated that the drug items were seized during a series of operations by the border troops jointly with the officials of DRI & PS- Sonamura.

Huge quantity of contraband items including 1179 kgs of Ganja 553 bottles of Eskuff cough syrup along with Indian currency of Rs. 7, 24,130, 2 vehicles and 1 Motorcycle was seized during the operation, it stated adding that around 42 cattle heads were also recovered.

It stated that one suspected smuggler and two infiltrators were also apprehended in different Operations on July 19 last.

According to the BSF press communique, during the wee hours of July 19 last, on specific input regarding stocking of huge contraband items in the house of one 45-year old Monir Hossain and 40-year old Kabir Hossain, a joint operation team consisting the troops of BSF, DRI and Sonamura police conducted a special operation and successfully recovered the contraband items.
