The state social welfare and social education minister Tinku Roy on Friday called for collective effort to combat the drug menace in the state of Tripura and appealed to the social organisations and clubs to feature Nesha-Mukt’ theme in Durga Puja Pandals.

Addressing a press conference here in his office chamber at Agartala, the minister said, “The government has been working diligently to end drug menace in the state and as part of this there is a need of collective effort from the end of social organisations and clubs.”

“Initiatives like ‘Khelo Tripura Sushtha Tripura’ were adopted to engage the youths more with sports and recreational activities instead of getting addicted to various kinds of drugs,” he told reporters.

He said, “With the festive season coming near, all the clubs, social organizations, Bazar Samitis and others who organize Durga Puja should come forward voluntarily and feature Nesha-Mukt Tripura in their puja pandals to generate more awareness on the drug menace.”
