Scrutiny of nomination papers for Phase-II polls to be held today in Manipur
Feb 14, 2022In Manipur, the scrutiny of nomination papers for the Phase-II polls will be held today. Ninety-six nomination papers were filed from 22 assembly constituencies of six electoral districts of the State till last date of filling nomination papers. The last date of withdrawal of candidatures is February 16 for this phase and voting will be held on March 5.
Wangkhem assembly constituency of Thoubal district witnessed highest number of filling nomination papers for the second phase. Eight nomination papers were filed in this assembly constituency while seven nomination papers were received in Tengnoupal assembly constituency. Only two candidates filed nomination papers in Nungba assembly constituency of Tamenglong district.
They are sitting MLA and Congress leader Gaikhangam and former bureaucrat and BJP candidate D. Gangmei. Former Chief Minister of Manipur and Congress leader O. Ibobi filed his nomination in Thoubal assembly constituency while his son- Surjakumar Okram filed his nomination paper in Khangabok assembly consistency.
