CM inaugurates 30th annual state conference of Indian Academy of Pediatrics

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Saturday inaugurated the 30th annual state conference of the state branch of Indian Academy of Pediatrics here at Agartala IMA House and said that the child specialists or the pediatricians play a crucial role in ensuring safety of Child’s health care.
Addressing the event, the Chief Minister hoped that the doctors will come forward with social responsibility in the implementation of various programs taken by the government to protect the health of children and play a key role in developing the future generation as well.
The theme of this year's conference is Pediatric Health Care – Current Advances and Challenges. Dr. Alekhya Dasgupta, a senior pediatrician in the state, was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Indian Academy of Pediatrics Tripura State Branch on the occasion.
In the event, the Chief Minister said that the health care system of the state is now much improved. The government is implementing various programs to protect children's health and build a healthy society, he said, adding that the pediatricians are always committed to improving the health and well-being of children. The role of pediatricians in the development of children's physical, mental, social and spiritual intelligence is undeniable, he added.
The Chief Minister mentioned the launch of State-based School Health Mission as a pilot project in 125 Vidyajyoti schools of the state to make children and adolescents healthy and strong. He said, basically this program will work based on 6 pillars. The main objective of this program is to create a healthy environment in the school by making the children aware about the health issues inside the school.
