Union Home Ministry Team Holds Meetings in Manipur for Peace Talks


The team of Union Home Ministry led by Indo-Naga peace talk interlocutor AK Mishra has been holding a series of meetings with relevant stakeholders to bring peace in Manipur. A team led by AK Mishra consisting of Joint Director of SIB, New Delhi Mandeep Singh Tuli and Joint Director, SIB Imphal Rajesh Kumble arrived in Imphal on 22nd January.

 Upon arrival at Imphal, the team met the leaders of Arambai Tengol along with Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba in Imphal. The meeting discussed the disarmament and shun of violence by the groups. However, no resolution was brought in yesterday evening.

 Meanwhile, the team of Ministry of Home Affairs along with the BJP leader Sambit Patra met the leaders of Arambai Tengol in Imphal on 23rd January. Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh also convened a meeting for MLAs at Imphal on 23rd January and discussed the present situation of Manipur.

 On the other hand, tight security arrangements have been made in valley districts of Manipur especially in Imphal considering tomorrow's public meeting convened by Arambai Tengol. Additional security forces have been deployed in Imphal to avoid any unwanted situation.
