Mizoram Government launches E-Office System to boost Digital Governance
Jun 28, 2025
In a significant move toward enhancing digital governance and streamlining administrative processes, the Mizoram government has officially launched the e-Office system at the state secretariat.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Dr. Vanlalhlana, announced that the system was initially introduced as a pilot project on April 18 in four departments, including the School Education Department and the Public Works Department (PWD). Following the successful trial, the e-Office platform has now been extended to all 41 departments within the state secretariat, including the Chief Minister’s Office.
Dr. Vanlalhlana also confirmed that the government plans to expand the system to directorates and district-level offices in the near future.
The implementation of the e-Office initiative in Mizoram began in January 2024. The project received a financial grant of ₹1.99 crore from the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India, under the State Collaborative Initiative Scheme.
As of now, a total of 6,492 files have been processed through the e-Office system, indicating steady progress in the state’s transition to a paperless and more efficient administrative workflow.
The e-Office platform is expected to improve transparency, accountability, and decision-making speed across departments while significantly reducing the use of physical paperwork and curbing bureaucratic delays.
