North Eastern States witnesses all-around development in last nine years, said Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal

The North Eastern States have witnessed all-around development in the last nine years as the Narendra Modi government has given special focus on increasing connectivity, boosting infrastructure and bringing peace in the region. This was stated by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal while briefing media in New Delhi today.  He said dignity, history, and culture were taken into consideration while making development policies and programmes for the region.

He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has visited the northeast at least 64 times and it proves his dedication for the welfare of the area.   He said the road, railway, aviation and waterways infrastructure have improved significantly in recent years. The Minister highlighted that the number of airports have increased to 17 from nine in the last nine years in North East. Mr. Sonowal also said the good governance and peace in the region have been established.  He accused Congress of ignoring the North East during its rule saying people used to hesitate to visit the North Eastern States in the opposition party's regime.
