Statehood Day: PM Modi greets people of Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura, prays for constant progress


Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted people of Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura on their Statehood Day today. In a tweet, Mr. Modi said, these states are making vibrant contributions to India’s development. He prayed for the constant progress of the states. On this day in 1972, the three states became full-fledged states under the North Eastern Region (Reorganisation) Act,1971.

Later, in his address on 50th Statehood Day of Manipur, the Prime Minister paid tribute to the sacrifices and efforts of each and every person who contributed to this glorious journey. He termed the resilience and unity of the Manipuri people in the face of the ups and downs of their history as their true strength.

In Manipur, the 50th Statehood Day was celebrated today at Imphal. Manipur got Statehood on 21st January, 1972. Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh attended the celebration as Chief Guest. The contingents of State Police showcased March Pass in the celebration. Speaking at the celebration, Shri Biren said that the state government target to cover hundred person coverage of households in Jal Jeevan Mission.
