Jul 04, 2025
As part of the celebrations for the International Year of Cooperatives 2025, the Tripura State Co-operative Consumer Federation Ltd. (TSCCF Ltd.) on Friday organized a special environmental initiative titled “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” in Durjoynagar, Agartala. The event saw enthusiastic participation from community members, cooperative leaders, and local stakeholders.
The initiative encouraged individuals to plant trees in honor of their mothers, symbolizing care, nurturing, and growth—values deeply rooted in both motherhood and environmental stewardship.
Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education, and Labour, Tinku Roy was the chief guest at the event. In his address, he emphasized the vital role of cooperative movements in building sustainable and inclusive communities. He also called upon the youth to take proactive roles in protecting the environment. Minister Roy personally took part in the initiative by planting a sapling.
TSCCF Ltd. Chairman Tuton Das and other dignitaries were present at the event, which underscored the cooperative sector’s commitment to not only economic development but also environmental and social responsibility.
By integrating traditional values with modern cooperative principles, Tripura is setting a strong example of grassroots action aimed at building a greener and more compassionate future.
