Tripura government is constantly monitoring the situation in Manipur


The Tripura government is constantly monitoring the overall situation in the fiery Manipur. Necessary steps have also been taken to ensure the safety of Tripura students staying in Manipur. All are safe there, Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha assured today. According to him, a high-level meeting was held on the recent events in Manipur. Chief Secretary, Director General of Tripura Police and secretaries of concerned departments have been directed to continuously monitor and take necessary action.

Incidentally, the Manipur High Court directed the Manipur government to include the Meitei community in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) list. In protest against this, tribal organizations of Manipur organized a 'Solidarity March' on Wednesday afternoon under the initiative of 'All Tribal Students Union, Manipur'. But the protesters staged isolated incidents like torching the forest department's beat office in Manipur's Bungmual and burning tires at several places. Not only that, the protesters also set several houses and cars on fire. Security forces swung into action to bring the situation under control. Then the protestors clashed directly with them. It caused casualties. Yesterday, the Manipur government issued a shoot-on-sight order to control the situation.

The Chief Minister of Tripura yesterday inquired about the students of the state studying in RIMS and other colleges in Manipur. On his instructions, the state administration has inquired about the students studying in various colleges of Manipur. From Manipur government to the state administration it has been assured to keep the students of Tripura safe. Moreover, on the instructions of the Chief Minister, the Director of Health Education of Tripura Prof. (Dr.) HP Sharma spoke to the Principal of Rims on telephone yesterday. The principal of RIMS informed the Health Education Commissioner of Tripura that the students of the state studying there are safe and secure.

 Meanwhile, the helpline number was launched last night. The helpline numbers are: 112, 1070/0381-2416045/241-6241 and 8787676210 (whatsapp number). Also, the Chief Minister said that the state government is keeping in touch with the students studying in Manipur.

He said that today a high level review meeting was held on the recent events in Manipur. Chief Secretary, Director General of Tripura Police and secretaries of concerned departments were present in the meeting. A detailed inquiry has been made about the current status of the students studying in Rims and Central Agriculture University of Manipur.

 He claimed that the Director General of Tripura Police and CRPF present in the meeting informed that the current situation in Manipur is normalizing. All kinds of security arrangements have been made for the students of Tripura. So far no alarming situation has arisen for Tripura students staying in Manipur. Tripura government has also started trying to keep in touch with the parents of the students. Even the Tripura administration is in touch with the Manipur government.

According to the Chief Minister, about 150 students of Tripura are currently studying in various colleges in Manipur. Their organization has been contacted. Not only that, a doctor resident of Tripura is working as a faculty there. He is in constant contact. On this day, he appealed not to listen to any kind of rumour.
