Tripura Cabinet approves recruitment of 1,615 teachers to boost School Education

In a major move aimed at strengthening school education and generating employment opportunities, the Tripura Cabinet has approved the recruitment of 1,615 teachers across secondary and higher secondary levels in the state.
Announcing the decision on Tuesday, Cabinet spokesperson and Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that the recruitment will be carried out by the Teachers' Recruitment Board, Tripura (TRBT), and all appointments will be made on a fixed pay basis.
As part of the recruitment drive, 915 Postgraduate Teachers (PGTs) will be appointed to teach students in Classes XI and XII. The distribution of subject-wise vacancies includes: English (70), Kokborok (75), Bengali (50), History (71), Political Science (65), Philosophy (6), Geography (80), Sanskrit (20), Economics (80), Physics (55), Chemistry (59), Biology (45), Mathematics (50), Commerce (33), Sociology (70), and Psychology (86).
In addition, 700 Graduate Teachers will be recruited for Classes IX and X to address the shortage of subject-specific teachers and ensure quality education at the secondary level.
“This decision reflects the government’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure and tackling the existing gap in teaching staff across government schools,” said Minister Chowdhury.
Alongside the teacher recruitment, the Cabinet also approved: Appointment of six Dental Medical Officers through the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC). Filling up of 37 posts at the National Law University, Tripura, which include Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Deputy Registrar, and Assistant Registrar.
