Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with fervour across Tripura

Amidst religious fervour Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated across Tripura on Monday along with other parts of the country. The Festival marked the culmination of the fasting month of Ramzan. Thousands of Muslims from across Tripura gathered at the Gedu Mia mosque in Agartala on Monday to offer Eid-ul-Fitr prayers, after the crescent moon was sighted, marking the end of 'Ramadan'.
Imam (chief cleric of the mosque) read out the special prayer for global peace. The devotees prayed for the welfare and prosperity of the State and the country as well as for world-wide peace.
According to Jamal Khan, who joined the Eid prayers said, “This is one of the biggest festivals of the Muslim’s and we spread the message of brotherhood among all the people of the world. This is the reward that we get after one month’s fasting during Ramadan. ”
Another Muslim who joined the prayers, Sohal Ali said: “Eid is the culmination of month of fasting. After this we celebrate this day along with people of all religions in our house and everywhere.”
As is customary, the Muslims after prayers embraced each other and exchanged Eid greetings.
Dressed in their best, people belonging to the Muslim community offered Eid prayers in Eidgahs and mosques on this occasion. They greeted each other and exchanged greetings with people of other faiths.
