Deepika Wins Poligras Magic Skill Award for Stunning Solo Goal against Netherlands

Indian women's hockey forward Deepika has won the prestigious Poligras Magic Skill Award 2024–25 for her exceptional solo goal against the Netherlands in the FIH Hockey Pro League. The award, which recognizes moments of individual brilliance in international hockey, was determined through a global fan vote held from July 4 to 13.

Deepika’s winning moment came during the Bhubaneswar leg of the Pro League in February. In the 35th minute of the match against the world No. 1 Dutch team, she produced a moment of magic—dribbling down the left flank, weaving past multiple defenders, lifting the ball over a stick, and finishing from a tight angle to level the score at 2-2. India went on to win the match in a dramatic shootout at the Kalinga Stadium.

The award saw nominations from across the globe, including Spain’s Patricia Alvarez for her creative 3D skills and goal against Australia, and a team effort by the Australian women's side that featured five rapid passes before a sharp finish against England.

In the men’s category, Belgium’s Victor Wegnez claimed the award for his superb midfield play that orchestrated a brilliant team goal against Spain.
