State level send-off programme for Amrit Kalash Yatra under Meri Mati Meri Desh held in Kohima


In Nagaland, a state level send-off programme for Amrit Kalash Yatra under Meri Mati Meri Desh was held in Kohima yesterday. Advisor for New & Renewable Energy and Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority Z Nyusietho Nyuthe lauded the volunteers who will be representing Nagaland in carrying the Amrit Kalash containing the soil of the state to New Delhi for the National Level Event to be held on 30th October.

Home Commissioner, Abhijit Sinha said Memorial plaques were erected in Villages by inscribing names of bravehearts, the Panch Pran Pledge by citizens by holding soil were taken up in the first  phase of Amrit Kalash Yatra, including planting of saplings of indigenous trees in 1,003 villages, while 1,249 Amrit Vatika were created and more than 93,000 saplings were planted.

Mr. Sinha said during the second phase, soils were collected from villages and sent to Kohima and 74 selected volunteers will be taking it to New Delhi.

Meanwhile, Youth Resources & Sports, Director Kethosituo Sekhose called upon the volunteers to be the face of Nagaland and showcase Nagaland as an example to be followed.
