Tripura has catapulted the state into the digital era, delivering transformative change across governance, infrastructure, and citizen services, said minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Monday.

The Minister today launched free Wi-Fi facility in at least 19 degree colleges of the state to digitally empower students and further enhance digital literacy.

Tripura government through the Directorate of Information Technology with support from Department of higher education has introduced free Wi-Fi facility in 19 government colleges in Phase 1 across the state as part of its broader Digital Tripura initiative to provide secure, high-speed internet access to students.

Addressing the launching programme in a function at Netaji Subhash Mahavidyalaya in Udaipur, minister Pranajit Singha Roy said that this facility will empower them to connect with educational resources, collaborate globally, and engage in research, helping them prepare for the demands of the New digital age. This facility will be managed decentrally by the college administrations with resource support from DIT, ensuring security, transparency, and efficiency at all times, he said.

He further said that the initiative marks another leap forward in Tripura’s commitment to promoting education, research, and entrepreneurship. He however hoped that this project will open new horizons for the young minds, equipping them with the tools to succeed in a rapidly evolving digital landscape and thereby further strengthening the position of the beautiful state of Tripura as a hub of knowledge and innovation in the Northeast.
