Guwahati police seized 2500 kg of ganja, two arrested

Guwahati city police on Thursday seized 2500 kg of ganja and arrested two people. Based on secret information, a team of Guwahati city police led by Partha Sarathi Mahanta, Joint Commissioner of Police launched the operation at Jorabat area, outskirts of Guwahati along Assam-Meghalaya border and seized the ganja from a truck bearing registration number HR-38T-2913. Partha Sarathi Mahanta, Joint Commissioner of Police, Guwahati said that, they seized around 2500 kg of ganja from the truck and the market value of the very high quality of ganja is estimated at around Rs 60,000 per kg.
“Today morning around 7 am, we intercepted a truck which was coming from Manipur. During search we found very high quality of ganja which were kept hide in the truck. We have arrested two persons. We have seized approximately 2500 kg of ganja that was going to Assam, Guwahati towards the mainland for further distribution to various parts of the country. The market value of the seized ganja is estimated at around Rs 60,000 per kg. This is one of the biggest seizures,” Partha Sarathi Mahanta said.
