Use of drone technology in agri sector to enhance production: Minister Pranajit Singha Roy


The state agriculture minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Friday said that the use of drone technology in the agriculture sector of the state of Tripura will help in enhancing production and farmers’ income at large.

He said this while launching the usage of drone technology in Shalgarah village panchayat of Tepania block in Gomti district. He said, “For enhancing farmers’ income, emphasis is put on adopting a multi-dimensional modern technology, which includes increase in production through the use of drones on the farming land.”

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken initiatives to boost the agricultural sector of the country through the use of modern machinery in the agricultural sector. It is also being implemented in our state. Farmers in the state are also getting benefitted with the subsidized agricultural machinery,” he said.

He said, “By using drones, farmers will be able to spread pesticides at a proportional rate on a large amount of land in a very short time. It will protect the agricultural land from insects. In the first phase, the concerned officials of the agriculture department will use drones to spread pesticides on farmers' land.”

He said that the use of this drone technology will start soon in every district and agricultural subdivision of the state.

Udaipur municipal corporation Chairperson Shital Chandra Majumdar, Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department Apurba Roy, Director of agriculture Sharadindu Das, Tepania Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Jharna Rani Das among others were present in the programme.
