Tripura’s industry sector enhancing to attract more foreign investors, says CM Dr Manik Saha


Agartala, Nov 11: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday inaugurated a state-level workshop on Uttar Poorva Transformative Industrialization Scheme (UNNATI), 2024 here at Agartala Pragna Bhavan and said that Tripura government is focused on boosting the industry sector and enhance the state’s economy. The workshop was organized by the Department of Industries and Commerce.

Addressing the event, Dr Saha said that with the enhancement of the industry sector in the state, the foreign investors are being encouraged to set up industries in the state. The project 'Unnati-2024' will play an important role in the industrialization and economic growth of various states of the North Eastern region including Tripura, Dr Saha said.

Chief Minister Dr Saha laid emphasis on strengthening the industrial ecosystem in the state and said that priority has also been given to encourage new investments in the state.

“A minimum investment of Rs 1 crore in manufacturing sector units under this scheme will be considered eligible for incentives on projects and machinery. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry considering Tripura under Zone-B will provide maximum subsidy to industrial units in Tripura, which will enable our locally manufactured products to compete with foreign manufactured products,” he said.

He said that the workshop mainly focused on creating awareness among potential entrepreneurs and investors to avail benefits under 'Unnati-2024', so that Tripura can get maximum benefits from this scheme. The Chief Minister said that the registration for 'Unnati-2024'-project started on March 9, 2024 and will continue till March 31, 2026.

The Chief Minister said that apart from 'Unnati-2024', the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Tripura is also implementing the state scheme of Tripura Industrial Investment Promotion Incentive Scheme (TIPIS), 2024, through which various subsidies are being provided to industrial units.
