Centre releases Rs. 166 Cr for Tripura for further implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission


The Union Ministry of Water Resource Development released Rs. 166 crores as grant-in-aid to the State of Tripura for further implementation of "Jal Jeevan Mission" project in the state so as to connect every rural households with Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC), said Tripura DWS Minister Sushanta Chowdhury.

The minister took on to his social media handle on Wednesday and thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Water Resource department Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for the release of the fund.

"We are committed to connect every rural household with filtered drinking water. We have already been able to deliver drinking water through pipes to the homes of nearly four lakh citizens living in rural areas," he said, adding that the continuous financial support of the Central Government will give the department of Drinking Water and Sanitation an extra impetus and encouragement to do better work in the Jal Jeevan Mission project.
