CM Himanta Biswa Sarma reviews key infrastructure projects with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi to review the progress of major infrastructure projects underway in the state.
The high-level meeting focused on flagship projects aimed at enhancing connectivity and accelerating economic growth in Assam and the broader northeastern region. Senior officials from both the Assam government and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) were present during the review.
Following the meeting, CM Sarma took to social media platform X to describe the discussions as “fruitful,” adding that he had sought MoRTH’s support for the timely completion of the state’s critical infrastructure initiatives.
“In New Delhi today, I had a fruitful meeting with Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari Ji. We reviewed the progress of Assam’s flagship infra projects and sought @MORTHIndia’s cooperation in their time-bound completion. Hon’ble Minister has assured us of the Ministry’s undivided focus on this matter,” Sarma posted.
Union Minister Gadkari also shared updates on the meeting via X, highlighting the strategic importance of the ongoing highway projects.
“Reviewed the ongoing National Highway projects in Assam, with Assam Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Ji and senior officials in Delhi today. These projects will significantly boost regional connectivity, enhance trade routes, and accelerate economic growth across the northeastern region of the country,” he wrote.
The meeting underscores the Centre’s continued commitment to infrastructure-led development in the Northeast, with a focus on improving road networks, facilitating trade, and integrating the region more closely with the national economy.
