In yet another major crackdown on illegal infiltration, the Tripura Police on Sunday detained seven Bangladeshi nationals and one Indian tout from Berimura area under Lefunga police station.
The Officer-in-Charge of Lefunga police station Sahdev Das informed there was information about the arrival of some Bangladesh nationals, on basis of the information police personnel from Lefunga police station intercepted a vehicle bearing number TR 01 L 3501 in which all the seven Bangladesh nationals and the Indian tout was travelling. The Indian tout has been identified as Jeevan Baishya. After the preliminary investigation, all the Bangladeshi nationals admitted that they entered the Indian territory in Tripura by illegally crossing the border, Sahdev Das added. A Specific case has been registered against them.
In a separate incident, five Bangladeshi nationals were detained by the BSF (Border Security Force) on Saturday evening at Lankamura area. The Officer-in-Charge of West Agartala Police Station Paritosh Das informed that, acting on a tip off BSF (Border Security Force) detained five Bangladeshi nationals. Later they were handed over to the police. After the preliminary investigation, all the Bangladeshi nationals admitted that they entered into the Indian territory in Tripura by illegally crossing the border. A specific case has been registered against the arrested Bangladeshi nationals. They were produced before the court on Sunday, Paritosh Das added.
