ASSAM RIFLES AND EXERCISE AND NARCOTICS DEPARTMENT, AIZAWL RECOVERS METHAMPHETAMINE TABLET WORTH RS 49,99,50,000/- IN SAWKARTAICHUN, AIZAWL DISTRICT, MIZORAM AND APPREHENDS FOUR INDVIDUAL


In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, Aizawl Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), along with Excise and Narcotics department Aizawl, recovered Methamphetamine tablets quantity- 1,50,000 tablets, worth Rs 49,99,50,000/- (Rupees forty nine crore ninety nine lakh fifty thousand only) in general area Sawkartaichun, Aizawl district on 22 Oct 2022. The operation was carried out by a joint team of Assam Rifles and Excise & Narcotics Department, Aizawl based on specific information.

Based on the information received, a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) was  launched by joint team of Aizawl Battalion and  Excise & Narcotics Department, Aizawl at Sawkartaichun on 22 Oct 2022. The team noticed the mov of suspected vehicle at around 1040 hrs. The vehicle was stopped and a thorough spot checking was carried out. During the checking Methamphetamine tablets (Qty- 1,50,000 tablets) were found. The entire consignment of Methamphetamine tablets were seized in situ and four individuals were taken into custody by the joint team.

Approximate cost of the recovered Methamphetamine tablets is Rs 49,99,50,000/-.   Ongoing smuggling of Methamphetamine tablets is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram. Assam Rifles, rightly christened as the ‘Sentinels of Northeast’ have continued their efforts against the smuggling activities in Mizoram.
