elephant found dead in Assam’s Kamrup
Nov 03, 2022Guwahati, November 2: An adult male elephant was found dead in a paddy field in Assam’s Kamrup district along Assam-Meghalaya border on Wednesday. According to the reports, local villagers found the elephant lying in a paddy field at Dhanipara area along Assam-Meghalaya border and informed forest officials.
The forest officials of South Kamrup Forest Division rushed to the spot and found the carcass of the elephant. Dimpi Bora, Divisional Forest Officer said that, the actual cause of death of the elephant is yet to be ascertained.
“After receiving the information we immediately reached the spot and found the carcass of the elephant aged around 15-20 years. During preliminary investigation we have not found any external injury,” the forest official said.
