Badminton: Lakshya Sen To Take On Lee Zii Jia Of Malaysia In Men Singles Quarter-Final Of All England Open Championships
Mar 15, 2024In Badminton, India’s Lakshya Sen has stormed into the Men’s Singles quarterfinals of the All England Open Championships in Birmingham. Commonwealth Games gold medallist Sen defeated Denmark’s Anders Antonsen in the pre-quarter-finals 24-22, 11-21, 21-14 in a hard-fought match. World Number 18 Sen will face Lee Zii Jia of Malaysia in the quarter-finals tonight.
However, two-time Olympic medallist, PV Sindhu bowed out of the competition yesterday following a 19-21, 11-21 loss to world number one An Se Young of South Korea in the Round of 16.
In Men’s Doubles, Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy lost to Indonesian duo B Maulana and MS Fikri 16-21, 15-21 in the pre-quarterfinal. In another Round of 16 fixture last evening, the Women’s Doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto lost to Zheng Yu and Zhang Shuxian of China 21-11, 11-21, 11-21.
