In yet another significant crackdown against drug, the police of East Agartala Police Station on Sunday night detained at least five youths from separate places and seized 14 grams of brown sugar worth around Rs. 70000.
Officer in-charge of East Agartala Police Station Sanjit Sen informed that acting on a tip off, police conducted raids in two separate locations on Sunday night and detained 3 youths from the Gandhi School area and another 2 from Women’s college area in Agartala.
During the search of the three arrested persons police officials found Brown Sugar packed in a soap case from their possession. After the preliminary probe the arrested persons revealed the location of their two subordinates.
Immediately the police sent another team and arrested the two other subordinates from the Women's college area. After searching the two arrested persons, police officials found Brown Sugar packed in a soap case and several empty containers of Brown Sugar from their possession.
All the five accused were booked under relevant sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
