Tripura has advanced infrastructure for sport talents; CM Dr. Manik Saha reviews meting


Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Monday chaired a review meeting of the Youth and Sports Affairs department here at the conference hall of the secretariat and said that the state has advanced infrastructure for the sports talents of the state.

Minister Tinku Roy, Secretary of Youth Affairs and Sports Department P K Chakraborty and other department officials were present in the meeting.

“Presently the state has developed sports infrastructure to develop the talent of the players. All that is required is proper care and advanced training. In view of this there is a need for further development of coaching centers in the state and training of players through skilled coaches,” said CM Dr. Saha.

He further said that Tripura currently has infrastructural and proper management of gymnastics, badminton, table tennis etc. Their practical aspects need further attention. In this case, the officials of the department should be proactive, he said. The Chief Minister also stressed on strengthening the Tripura Sports Act by amending it.

In the review meeting, the Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy said that in the future, the department should be proactive in how to use the clubs in the state for the betterment of the sports field. Efforts should be made to link coaching centers with schools. He said that it is necessary to check whether the sports equipment distributed to the clubs is being used properly.
