State-Level programme marks "International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking" in Agartala

The Department of Social Welfare and Social Education, Government of Tripura, organized a state-level programme to observe the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at Agartala Town Hall on Tuesday.
The event was inaugurated by the Minister for Social Welfare and Social Education, Tinku Roy, who emphasized the urgent need to combat the growing menace of drug abuse through collective efforts from all sections of society.
Also present at the event were the Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Dipak Majumder, along with senior officials, social workers, students, and members of civil society.
In his address, Minister Roy highlighted the government's commitment to creating a drug-free Tripura through awareness campaigns, rehabilitation programmes, and stronger enforcement against illicit trafficking. He urged young people to stay away from substance abuse and to act as ambassadors of change in their communities.
The programme featured cultural performances, skits, and speeches aimed at spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug use and the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
The observance served as a reminder of the global fight against drug abuse and reinforced the state’s dedication to eradicating the issue at the grassroots level.
