Preparatory meeting on 18th Regional Sara Fair held


The 12-day long 18th Regional Sara Fair will begin from December 28 next here at Agartala Hapania International fair Ground.

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has chaired a preparatory meeting here at Agartala Secretariat and sought for a collective effort in making the fair successful. The fair will last till January 8 next.

During the meeting the Chief Minister Dr Saha laid emphasis on ensuring that self-help groups become financially viable through the fair. In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Vocal for Local' vision, self-help groups should be encouraged more to showcase their products in the fair, Dr Saha said.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission Brahmit Kaur briefed about the measures to be undertaken in the Sara Fair this year and said that a total of 370 stalls will be set up in the fair this year. In addition to the cultural programme, a conference with buyers and sellers will also be organised during the fair.

Secretary Pradeep Kumar Chakraborty, Principal Secretary of the Department of Industry and Commerce V G Jenner, Secretary of the Department of Rural Development Dr Sandeep A Rathore, Director of Industry and Commerce Department Vishwashri B, Director of Information and Culture Department Bimbisar Bhattacharya and officials of various departments were present in the preparatory meeting.
