UDAN proposes Agartala-Dhaka, Agartala-Chittagong international flight routes


Agartala, Feb 19: The regional airport development programme of the Government of India –UDAN had recently announced the much awaited international flight routes between Agartala and neighbouring Bangladesh. Among 11 other international routes of the North-East region of the country, the UDAN has proposed two seperate international routes between Agartala and Dhaka and another between Agartala and Chittagong.

“There is a proposal from the Ministry regarding the international routes connecting Agartala with the Bangladesh, but still now we have not received any confirmation,” said Director of the Agartala MBB airport Rajiv Kapoor on Saturday. He said, “Tripura government is putting an utmost effort regarding the operation of the international flight service between Agartala and Bangladesh and other parts too.”

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Saturday thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Civil Aviation Minister Jyotirmoy Scindia for the initiative of fulfilling the dream of the people of the state. “The proposed international flight service with Bangladesh will surely boost Tripura tourism and take the state to a new height in terms of air connectivity,” Deb tweeted. Deb also stated, “It will also benefit the people of Bangladesh in various ways and strengthen the cordial relation between the two countries.”
