Assam CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma launches Logo of Khelo India University Games – 2023
Feb 09, 2024Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the Logo, Anthem, Mascot, Jersey, and Torch of Khelo India University Games - 2023, Ashtalakshmi in Guwahati yesterday. Union Minister Nisith Pramanik was also present on the occasion.
Addressing the event, the Chief Minister assured to provide the best facilities and service to all the participating members in this sporting event. Dr. Sarma informed that the inaugural ceremony will be held on 19th February and of the total 20 sporting events, 16 will be held in Guwahati. Competitions for the rest of the disciplines will be held in other North Eastern states.
Union MoS for Youth Affairs & Sports, Nisith Pramanik said, the country is progressing very fast in the sports sector and it is turning itself into a sporting nation. He said, that Indian sportsperson's presence and contribution to international sporting events are also increasing tremendously. The Union Minister said, the Khelo India University Games will provide them a platform for the University students to prepare themselves for greater international events.
Government of Assam, in association with the Sports Authority of India, is going to host the Fourth Khelo India University Games 2023 in Guwahati from the 19th to the 29th of this month. The event will be organised at 18 venues in 7 cities during 11 days duration where around 4500 athletes are expected to participate in 20 sporting disciplines. Over 200 universities will participate in the mega-university event.
