Prez Draupadu Murmu in Tripura stresses on primary education for girls


President Draupadi Murmu on her maiden visit to the state of Tripura for two days on Wednesday stressed on involvement of more girls in education so as to develop a society and said that the Tripura government has played a remarkable role in the education sector. The president was addressing a gathering here at Agartala Rabindra Bhawan on Wednesday noon while she inaugurated a new MLA hostel at New Capital Complex here and launched a slew of projects virtually including a few roads, some schools and student hostels.

She hoped that the National Law University, the model of which was unveiled earlier today by her, would play its role as a premier legal education centre in the country. She said that this university would be the 25th law university in the country. “The National Law university has played a role in imparting legal education since the past three decades. I hope that this law university in Tripura will play its responsibility as a premier legal Institute in the country,” the President said.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Verma, Education sector Ratan Lal Nath and the Union MoS for social justice and empowerment Pratima Bhoumik among others were present in the function. President Murmu also unveiled erstwhile king Birendra Kishore Manikya Museum and Cultural Centre at Pushpavanta Palace and expressed that the Centre would play a vital role in making music popular.

However, later this evening the president Murmu was accorded a civic reception at the Agartala Town Hall in presence of the Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Deepak Majumder and others.
