In a significant step towards enhancing public safety and emergency services, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday handed over 16 Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances to the Police and Fire Services. The new ambulances, valued at Rs 3.48 crore, were officially flagged off during a ceremony held at Swami Vivekananda Stadium in Agartala.
Alongside this initiative, the state government also launched the Vehicle Location Tracking (VLT) system a Rs 5.49 crore project aimed at improving the safety of women across Tripura. The system will allow real-time tracking of vehicles, enabling faster emergency response and better monitoring, particularly in cases involving women commuters.
“The safety of every life is our government’s top priority. Our Transport Department has been working tirelessly to reduce road accidents, and we are already seeing a significant decline,” said Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha during the event.
The BLS ambulances are equipped with essential emergency medical equipment and are expected to improve the state’s capacity to respond promptly to accidents and critical situations.
Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, and other senior officials were also present at the launch.
With these initiatives, the Tripura government continues to prioritize public safety, emergency preparedness, and the protection of women across the state.
