CM Dr. Manik Saha hails PM Modi’s ‘Act East Policy’ over development of NE region


Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Act East Policy’ played a vital role towards development of the North East region of the country.

Dr. Saha on Wednesday chaired a review meeting with the officers of the Rural Development department of the state here at Agartala Pragna Bhawan. He said that through implementing the Act East Policy which has benefitted the Tripura as well, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working to take the North Eastern states towards the path of development.

“Tripura government is working to implement different schemes of the central and state government for socio-economic development of people living in rural areas of the state. In this regard, officials, and employees of different levels of the Rural Development department have a significant role to play,” said Dr. Saha.

District Magistrates of different districts of the state and officials of Rural Development department were present in the workshop.

The Chief Minister said that the RD department has an important role in bringing overall development in the rural areas. “The Prime Minister has always said that a state can never develop without development of the rural areas. The Prime Minister even emphasized upon utilizing every amount that has been allotted for the purpose of rural development,” he said.

He claimed, “Tripura is in a good position presently among other states in the country in implementing different schemes including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin).”
