Tripura celebrates independence day with patriotic fervour


Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday unfurled the national flag here at Agartala Assam Rifles' Ground as the state today celebrates 76th independence day with a patriotic fervour.

The chief minister in his address to the people of the state on Monday highlighted different ongoing developmental project works in the state and said that the government is committed to build Tripura - a model state. He said, "Despite financial crunch, the Tripura government has announced 5% DA for all government employees and pensioners from July this year. The government has already identified the posts lying vacant in different government departments since many years. Following this recruitment to fill up those vacant posts would be done very soon."

He said that the government is also working tirelessly to generate more and more employment opportunities for the unemployed youths of the state.

Addressing the people of the state, Dr.Manik Shah highlighted the state's achievements in various fields of work.

Chief Minister said, "2.41 lakh of farmers have benefited under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Prakalpa and 8.58 lakh under Mukhyamantri Fasal Bima Yojana. Under the Atal Jaldhara Prakalpa, till July 31 more than 4.16 lakh houses have received tap water."

"Aiming to boost education among the indigenous community of people in Tripura, a total of 16 model Ekalavya schools are being constructed in ADC areas of the state," Saha said, adding that government is committed to increase rubber production in the state by rubber plantation covering 30000 hectares of land in the ADC areas under the Chief Minister Rubber Mission scheme. This will also generate employment opportunities for the youths of indigenous community, he said.

"The state government is now economically rehabilitating 37,136 Reang tribals known as Brus, displaced from neighbouring Mizoram, and for this purpose the Centre has sanctioned a Rs 600 crore package," said CM Dr. Saha after hoisting the tri-colour.

The work for the Agartala-Akahura railway line linking Tripura and Northeast region with Bangladesh are underway and the works in the Indian territory would be completed in June next year, he said.

He said that a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is being set up at Sabroom in the Southern part of the state and it would facilitate international trade using the Chittagong international sea port and attract private investment.

The Chief Minister said that to empower the women, Tripura State Policy for Empowerment of Women-2022 has undertaken and a series of schemes announced for the empowerment and welfare of women.

Saha, who also holds the home portfolio, said that for better management of the law and order, his government has taken many steps including the installation of 400 CCTV across the state, creation of two more Tripura State Rifles (TSR) battalions and appointment of special executives.

A centre has been set up in the Tripura Institute of Technology to train-up the students on drone technology, he stated.

In his long speech Dr Manik Saha gave a detailed description of the positive changes brought about in the state by the BJP government and the priorities of the government.

“According to the principle laid down by the honourable prime minister , we have been working on the principle of ‘Sav Ka Saath Savka Vikash’ and we try to extend the benefits of government’s welfare schemes to all sections of the society regardless of race, caste and creed and this will continue in future also ; no body will be deprived and every body will be taken along the path of development” asserted Dr Manik Saha.

The Chief Minister today inspected the guard of honor from march past contingents of BSF, Assam Rifles, CRPF, Tripura State Rifles, Traffic Police, Forest Guards, NCC Cadets, NSS Volunteers, and Home Guards at Assam Rifles' Ground.

To mark the independence day celebration on Monday, the national flag was hoisted in all the government offices and schools and government institutions.
