VP Jagdeep Dhankhar to inaugurate 23rd edition of Hornbill Festival
Dec 01, 2022The much awaited 23rd edition of the Hornbill Festival of Nagaland will start today, December 1, at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar will grace the inaugural programme. The festival of Festivals, the Hornbill festival will kick off at 4 this evening with Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar gracing the opening ceremony of the festival as the Chief Guest. Prof Jagdish Mukhi, Governor will be the chief host while Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will be the host. The inaugural function will be followed by a cultural presentation entitled “This is Nagaland.”
As India assumes G20 President today, December 1, which also coincides with the Nagaland statehood day and commencement of the hornbill festival, co-branding activities are being carried out such as the G20 Logo being displayed at Naga heritage village. The G20 logo has been inscribed in all program booklet, banners, cutouts, and publicity materials.Organized by the Government of Nagaland, the Hornbill Festival showcases Nagaland’s deep-rooted traditions and its rich cultural heritage in all its ethnicity, diversity, and grandeur.
The festival is also a tribute to the great Hornbill, which is an admired and revered bird by the Naga people, for its qualities of alertness and grandeur.The Hornbill Festival of Nagaland is a cultural extravaganza to revive, protect and preserve the richness and uniqueness of the Naga heritage. For the guests, it is an opportunity to get a comprehensive understanding of the Naga people, their land, and their rich culture. The festival will continue till December 10.
