Tripura celebrates statehood day


Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Sunday inaugurated the observance of the Tripura statehood day here in a function at Agartala Rabindra Bhavan and said that the government is contemplating to develop the state as multinational trade and logistics hub.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister Dr Saha said that once the Agartala-Akhaura rail link and Maitri Bridge are operational, Tripura will become the gateway to Southeast Asia. It will increase trade and employment opportunities, he added.

He said that since the establishment of the present government in the state in 2018, initiatives have been taken to develop the state's infrastructure, communication, public welfare, health, education, industry, sports, agriculture and culture.

Power Minister Ratanlal Nath, Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury and Sports Minister Tinku Roy were among others present in the function.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi thinks about the overall development of every person of the country. As a result, for the last 10 years, the people of the country have received one after another people-oriented projects.

“Although the state is small in size, the speed of development of Tripura is incredible. E-cabinet and e-office systems have already been introduced for corruption-free, transparent and dynamic administration. Special emphasis has been laid on skill development besides providing government jobs for the employment needs of the youth community of the state,” he said.

The Chief Minister underlined the achievement of the government and claimed that the state of Tripura is progressing fast in terms of development.
