Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma assures Pradyot of resolving problems of Tripura tribals amicably

After meeting the delegates of the TIPRA Motha party of Tripura and its chairman Pradyot Manikya Deb Burman, the Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Friday said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is committed to resolve the issues of tribals in Tripura.

“Problems of tribals in Tripura is high on Home Minister Amit Shah’s agenda and I believe that the constitutional solution for the Tripura tribals is just a matter of time,” Himanta said.

TIPRA Motha chairman Pradyot Manikya Deb Burman on Friday posted a video clip in his social media handle, where Himanta was seen and heard saying that the problems of tribals in Tripura will be resolved amicably.

He said, “Series of discussions were held between Home Minister Amit Shah and Pradyot ji before the election and infact after the election too. Already road map is there and tentative discussion had already taken place over the process of constitutional solution for the tribals in Tripura.”

“Some roadmap has already been laid down, but you need to discuss with all the stakeholders. So accordingly, the Home Minister is moving in line to resolve all the problems, because tribal people of Tripura have some grievances and it is important to redress those grievances,” he said, adding that the process of resolving the problems will be started soon.

On the issue of an appointment of interlocutor, Himanta said, “Home Minister is very keen to resolve the problem. Only thing I have told TIPRA Motha delegates is to have patience and confidence in PM Modi and HM Amit Shah ji.”

Himanta however explained the TIPRA Motha delegates about the aspects required to be brought in the discussion process over constitutional solution. “I said them that there is a need to involve Government of Tripura in the discussion along with other civil society organizations also, because there will be some claims or counterclaims.”

Meanwhile, after meeting the Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday last, the TIPRA Motha Chairman Pradyot on Friday stated, “We thank the government of India and We will be patient as we understand that problems which are decades long cannot be solved overnight! We will also continue to observe and fight for our indigenous people till we don't get a solution.”
