Rs 65.17 Cr sanctioned for development of micro, small and medium scale industries in Tripura: Secretary Kiren Gitte


The Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium scale Industries has sanctioned Rs 65.17 crores for the development and expansion of MSMEs in the state of Tripura under the ministry's "Raising and Accelerating MSME Productivity (RAMP)" programme, said secretary of state industry and commerce department Kiren Gitte on Friday.

Addressing a press conference in the conference hall of the civil secretariat on Friday, the secretary informed that at least 32000 educated unemployed youths of the state will be identified and trained in the development and expansion of micro, small and medium industries in the next three years.

He said that the main objective of the Ministry's ‘RAMP’ program is to develop industrial entrepreneurship and marketing skills among the unemployed youth of the state. Initiative has been taken to set up 'PM Unity Mall' at Agartala Jute Mill Complex for the purpose of selling and promoting the state's own products, he said, adding that about Rs 150 crore will be spent for the construction of this modern mall.

The mall will be built on 4.18 acres of land at Dukli Circle. Its DPR has been prepared by Agartala Smart City Limited, he told reporters.

The secretary further informed that the North East Investment Summit was held on March 6 last in New Delhi, where 14 MoUs worth Rs 1861.51 crores were signed. Out of these 6 investors have already invested Rs 29.85 crore rupees in the state.

Referring to the trade with the neighbouring Bangladesh nation, the secretary said that Srinagar border haat in the state is presently operational and Kamalasagar border haat will be reopened soon.
