Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma appeals to representatives of valley-based civil society to render help in bringing peace & normalcy in State


The Convenor of North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) and the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma met Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and others at Imphal yesterday. During the meeting, discussion was held to restore normalcy in the State. Sarma also met representatives of valley-based civil society and appealed to them to render help in bringing peace and normalcy in the State.

Meanwhile, the IPR Minister of Manipur Dr. S. Ranjan said that normalcy has been returning slowly and no unwanted incidents including exchange of fire took place in the last twenty-four hours in Manipur.

During a press briefing held yesterday at Imphal, the minister said that the security force has intensified the combing operation in different places in the State. Altogether 349 relief camps have been opened in different districts and around fifty thousand people have taken shelter in these camps.

 With the improvement of law and order situation in the State, the district administration of Imphal East and Imphal West districts has relaxed the curfew. On the other hand, the State Home Department has extended the ban on internet service till fifteen of this month in Manipur.
