CM Dr Manik Saha check preparation for NEC’s 72nd Plenary Session


For the first time, Tripura is set to host the 72nd Plenary Session of North East Council (NEC) here at Agartala on December 20 and 21 next. The session was supposed to be held on August 31 and September 1 last, but later it was postponed due to the deadly flood in Tripura.

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha accompanied by the Chief Secretary J K Sinha, top administrative and police officials on Tuesday visited Ujjayanta Palace, State Museum and Pragna Bhavan to check the ongoing preparation for the plenary session.

During the visit, the Chief Minister said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Governors, Chief Ministers of the eight North East states along with the DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will visit the state to attend the meeting.

He said that the meeting will mainly focus on more development of the North East region of the country with special attention to the implementation of funds of the Ministry of Development of North East Region (DoNER).  

Regarding his recent visit to the state of Maharashtra, the Chief Minister Dr Shah said, “I had a talk with prominent businessmen during my visit and they assured me of making investment in Tripura, which is expected to grow the state’s economy.”
