Tripura gets Rs. 42.3994 Cr for establishment of Integrated Aqua Park at Kailasahar


In response to the proposal made by the Tripura government over sanctioning fund for establishment of an Integrated Aqua Park at Kailasahar – first-of-its-kind facility in Tripura, the Union Ministry has sanctioned Rs. 42.3994 Crore for the proposed project, said Fishery Minister Sudhangshu Das on Friday. 

Addressing a press conference here in the conference hall of the civil secretariat, the minister said, “The Centre had sanctioned Rs. Rs. 42.3994 Crore (Central Share (90%): Rs. 38.1595 Crore & State Share: Rs. 4.2399 Crore.) in first phase for implementation of the said project under Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY).”

Briefing about the design of the IAP, the minister said that the Integrated Aqua Park will adopt sustainable fisheries practices, such as biofloc technology and recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), to minimize environmental impact. The park will also promote the use of eco-friendly fish feed and packaging materials, he said.

He said, “Another additional project was also submitted to the Union government for distribution of 100 fish kiosks, 100 Matsya Vaahini (Eco Friendly Movable Fish Kiosks) and 12 Matsya E-Rickshaw to the unemployed youths for the year 2023-24 to make them ‘Atmanirbhar’.

“Proposal was sent to the Centre for sanctioning of Rs. 22 crore,” he said, adding that in response the Centre has sanctioned Rs. 3.40 Crore (Central Share (90%): Rs. 3.06 Crore & State Share: Rs. 0.34 Crore.) in the first phase for implementation of the said project under Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY).
