Hostage release under temporary truce between Israel and Palestinian Hamas terrorists to not occur before Friday

The national security adviser of Israel stated that the release of hostages under a temporary truce between Israel and Palestinian Hamas terrorists will not occur before Friday. Israeli National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi said in a statement released by the prime minister's office that the start of the release will take place according to the original agreement between the sides, and not before Friday. Also, an Israeli public broadcaster reported that there was a 24-hour delay because the agreement was not signed by Hamas and mediator Qatar.

Israel and Hamas came to an agreement early on Wednesday to a ceasefire in Gaza for at least four days to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza and release at least 50 hostages held by terrorists in the enclave in exchange for at least 150 Palestinians imprisoned in Israel.

The war between Israel and Hamas started when Hamas surprise attacked Israel on October 7, leaving thousands dead on both sides of the Israel-Gaza border.
