United National Liberation Front of Manipur signs peace accord with Centre and State government


In a historic development, the United National Liberation Front, UNLF signed a peace agreement with Centre and Manipur government in New Delhi today. UNLF is the oldest valley-based armed group in Manipur. The peace agreement marks the end of a six-decade-long armed movement.

 In a social media post, Home Minister Amit Shah said it has agreed to renounce violence and join the mainstream. He said government’s efforts to establish permanent peace in the Northeast have added a new chapter of fulfillment as UNLF signed a peace agreement today.

 Mr Shah welcomed them to the democratic processes and wished them the best in their journey on the path of peace and progress. Home Minister said it is a landmark achievement in realizing the Prime Minister's vision of all-inclusive development and providing a better future to the youth in Northeast India.
