IMD Gangtok issues red alert for Soreng and Gyalshing districts of Sikkim
Jul 14, 2023In Sikkim, incessant rain since last evening has affected normal life in the state. In the Mangan district, damages to livestock and houses have been reported in the Dzongu area while the Mangan-Chungthang stretch of national highway 10 is blocked due to multiple landslides. Landslides on the route at Rafong Khola, Ringdang and Lanthey Khola are being cleared and District Collector, Mangan Hem Kumar Chettri has informed that the stretch may be opened to traffic by this evening. Mr. Chettri informed that all tourism activities in the district are suspended due to road connectivity disruptions.
Meanwhile, India Meteorological Department (IMD), Gangtok has issued red alert for Soreng and Gyalshing districts for today.
