In yet another major crackdown on drug trafficking, Police personnel from East Agartala Police station arrested two individuals including one woman from Jogendranagar Railway Station on Monday evening. The two arrested have been identified as Rupesh Kumar (21) and Kushbu Devi (29) both of them residents of Bihar.
Briefing the media on Tuesday, SDPO (Sadar) Debaprasad Roy said that, based on specific information police personnel from East Agartala Police station intercepted the suspects at the railway station and found 36 kilograms of ganja from their possession. Moreover, the estimated value of the confiscated marijuana (ganja) in the illicit market amounts to approximately Rs 3 lakh, he said.
The SDPO also mentioned that further investigation is underway to determine the source and destination of the drug consignment, as well as the larger network possibly involved in narcotics trafficking across the northeastern corridor.
