PM Modi Highlights Government’s Commitment to Youth Empowerment at 16th Rozgar Mela; Distributes over 51,000 Appointment Letters


Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday underscored the government’s dedication to empowering the youth and involving them actively in building a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) during the 16th edition of the Rozgar Mela.

Addressing the event via video conferencing, the Prime Minister distributed over 51,000 appointment letters to young individuals appointed to various Central Government departments.

Mr. Modi congratulated the new recruits and highlighted that the Rozgar Mela initiative has already helped lakhs of youth secure permanent government jobs, enabling them to play a crucial role in the nation’s progress.

Emphasizing India’s strengths, he said, “The world today recognizes India for two boundless assets — its demography and democracy.” He further pointed to the growing ecosystem of startups, innovation, and research across the country, which is enhancing the capabilities of the nation’s youth.

The Prime Minister also drew attention to the government’s efforts in creating new employment opportunities in the private sector, highlighting the recently approved Employment Linked Incentive Scheme. This scheme, backed by an allocation of approximately ₹1 lakh crore, is expected to generate around 3.5 crore jobs.

Mr. Modi highlighted the significance of the manufacturing sector as one of India’s greatest strengths, noting that numerous jobs are being created in this area. To bolster manufacturing, the government has launched the Mission Manufacturing initiative, announced in the current year’s budget.

He pointed out that over 11 lakh jobs have already been generated nationwide through the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. Additionally, electronic manufacturing in India has reached a staggering value of ₹11 lakh crore.

In the defence sector, Mr. Modi noted that India is setting new records, with defence production crossing ₹1.25 lakh crore.

Referring to a recent report by the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Prime Minister stated that more than 90 crore citizens have been covered under various welfare schemes over the last decade.

Highlighting India’s progress on the global stage, he mentioned that institutions such as the World Bank are now recognizing India as one of the countries with the highest levels of equality in the world.

The Rozgar Mela was held at 47 locations across the country on Saturday. The newly recruited youth will join various Ministries and Departments, including Railways, Home Affairs, Personnel and Public Grievances, Labour and Employment, Revenue, Posts, Higher Education, and others.
